I'm hoping someone can help me with regards my Dad's car. He has a 320d and when you turn the ignition, it makes a clicking noise, all the lights come on but it just slowly clicks and doesn't even try to turn over. My dad is on holiday at the moment and is going to kill me!!! Help

No, the other reply is right.  The battery is too flat to turn over the engine, btu there's enough in it to light the igniotion lights.  The clicking is the starter solenoid trying to engage, but every time it dpoes, it puts a load on the battery that makes the voltage drop too low so it disengages again.  Either take the battery off and charge it (make sure you know the radio codes etc) or jump start the car, but make sure you do that correctly otherwise you run the risk of blowing some expensive electronics - and I don't just mean gettign the leads the right way round!

Safest way is to disconnect your battery, connect leads from another car (engine off) and make sure the final connection is a negative lead to the engine, NOT the battery, run the other car engine at a fast idle for 15 - 20 minutes, switch off, disconnect jump leads, reconnect the battery and start your engine.
