55 plate A3 Sportback. Engine management light staying on. Air con starts up and runs for approx 5 minutes, then Econ light comes on and will not turn off. Although air still blows, the air con unit then not work. This happens every journey in the same order, frustrating during current heat wave (31C).
Diagnostic showing the following 3 fault codes:
PO691 Radiator Fan Activation / Short to earth
PO3102 Induction-pipe doors Engine no signal
PO3102 Induction-pipe doors Engine open / circuit / short to earth
Local garage (not auto electrician) unable to fix
Does anyone have any idea on where to start?
Thanks.

| Hi It sounds as if you have a fan problem. The radiator fan(s) should run constantly while the aircon is on - if a fan switch is u/s or the fan itself has siezed, you'd get just these symptoms, including the engine management light on. Can you hear the fan working? If not, that's your problem - check the fan itself and the switch & relay. If it does run, does it stop when you turn the aircon off and revert the then normal on/off cycle for engine cooling? If it runs all the time, it could be the rad temp sensor or coolant temp sensor, or a short in the relay. Aircon specialist should be able to sort it out - and re-gas the system as well, because that can be the initial cause of quite a few aircon troubles. Hope that helps. Tim
