HI,

I have a 2003 (53) plate Renault Espace authentique. It seems this car is also experiencing faults with the dash board. First: all warning lights flash on and off , next it's more off than on.
Then to add insult to injury each time the dash does light up it adds 100's of miles on. so a quick trip to the local garage (1/2 mile away) could add 170 miles on.

This problem was picked up with the Renault Scenic and corrected by Renault, but they say there is not a problem with my make. . . I beg to differ!

currently trying to get them to pay for repairs (or a large % of it).

anyone else had this problem with an Espace ?

Hi

You're certainly not alone!  Lots of people report problems with the Espace dash.  This first applied to the older one that went out in 2002, but seems even worse on the new ones.  Cures seem to range from changing the UBIC unit (a sort of electronic fuse & relay box under the driver side dash) to replacing the dash itself - at prices from £300 to £700 or so.

A second hand dash unit might be an option, but since they seem to fail in great numbers, it may not be worth it and anyway the new dash (or the new UBIC) will have to be matched electronically to your Espace by a dealer.

Sorry for the bad news, but I think you have an expensive repair on your hands.

Tim

cluster repairs can fix the problem. done my 53 plate dash for £189.00 inc vat they are based in gt yarmouth, just remove the unit from the dash and post it to them and they will send back in a couple of days.

Hi

Did you buy from a private owner or a dealer? If from a dealer, you may have some comeback. Otherwise, bear in mind the repair firm the other owner suggested - much cheaper than a new dash.

I have a 2004 Espace and the dash has just gone; there are no lights at all, been advised its an £800 replacement but might even need a UCH at £500. I have found bba-reman diagnose for £35 and repair for £115, although after reading several articles about Renault dash problems and replacements I am beginning to think I should pursue Renault to pay for it. Has anyone had any luck with this approach and if not what was the solution.

Wow,
My Renault Espace has been off the road now for 4 weeks and I still haven't fixed it!
It all started when something was draining the battery overnight, I jump started it which caused my dash to reset to zero and the windows didn't go up and down properly and it changed itself to km/h too. All the warning lights came on. After 3 weeks and 3 different garages I have found out that it is the dash board which has caused all of the problems and I need a new one £570 from renault unfitted! I called renault to see if they could help and an overly nice lady who sounded helpful but wasn't only came up with 'part ex it at a renault dealer'. when the renault dealer called me he said that these years were terrible for electric problems and I had bought the wrong year car but renault have got better. I told him I didnt want another renault! When I called REnault back to tell them that their dealer seemed to know that their dash boards were rubbish but the customer servce dept. didn't I was gob smacked to find out that the menu had 'press option 1 if you have a problem with your dash board' . They didn't help me at all. I am stuck here trying to find a 2nd hand dash but there aren't any around because so many people have had this problem.
I WILL NEVER BUY A RENAULT AGAIN!!!!
